If you keep these mental hitting concepts in mind throughout the year, you're gonna have some good at-bats this season, I guarantee it.

  • Play every day like it's "opening day".
  • Hunt the Fastball until it's time not to.
  • Give yourself permission to NOT be perfect or get 3 hits every game.
  • Go into "I don't give a crap what I hit" mode.
  • Have an attainable goal to hit the ball hard while helping the team win.
  • Remember that the batting average is a trap.

Please - LET. THESE. CONCEPTS. SINK. IN.

They'll be a gamechanger for you.

When you master them you'll get better at:

  • competing w/ 100% confidence throughout the season
  • taking consistent controlled violent swings
  • refining your swing mechanics because you have the right approach
  • increasing your bat-speed because you're playing with calmness, toughness, and focus.

Will these mental habits come overnight?

Nope.

Which is why you need to train your mental game.

Parents, this goes for you too. Quality At-Bats training is as much for the parent as it is for the player.

Why?

Because the player learns from the parent and coach.

Remember: 90% of hitting is how you feel when walking up to the plate.

There's two players in every hitter. Confident player & Non-confident player.

Everyday is opening day. New game. New pitcher, new chance to be the hero.

When you take care of the mental side of hitting, the stats take care of themselves.

When you take care of the approach, the mechanics will fall into place. (In most cases)

A lot of parents, players, and coaches have it backward.

They think by keeping a close eye on stats and nit-picking mechanics, that this will lead them to a successful season at the plate.

Here's the COLD-HARD-TRUTH.

This game is so mental it's MIND BLOWING.

There's a reason why we see players getting drafted in the first round never making it out of A ball while a player who gets drafted in the 50th round plays 10 years in the big leagues.

Please buy into to this.

When you're aware that 90% of hitting is how you feel when you walk up to the plate, you make having a solid mental hitting approach a priority.

Now it's about learning how to practice the mental side of hitting.

When you realize that you're either playing with Confident Player or Non-confident player, you except that it's your responsibility to make sure the right guy is showing up to the plate.

YOU CHOOSE WHAT TO THINK.

When you buy into the idea that it's not about you, it's about you helping your team win, you achieve freedom and the weight of the world is lifted off of your shoulders when you change your definition of success to having Quality At-Bats instead of base hits.

This is POWERFUL stuff guys but we have to practice it.
